Renault has officially revealed the name of its upcoming compact pick-up: the Renault Niagara. Directly inspired by the striking concept car showcased in 2023, this robust and versatile vehicle is set to play a pivotal role in Renault’s international product offensive.
The Power Behind the Name
The name "Niagara" evokes the strength, untamed power, and scale of the famous waterfalls. According to Renault, it perfectly reflects the vehicle's capability to handle extreme terrains and withstand the elements, making it ideal for both daily tasks and outdoor adventures.
While the production version will be more practical than the rugged, Dakar-rally style Niagara Concept, it retains a bold and muscular design. Teasers showcase wide wheel arches and a modern tailgate with the "Niagara" name stamped deeply into the sheet metal. Built on a shared platform with the popular Renault Duster, it promises proven durability.
The Niagara is part of Renault’s global futuREady strategic plan, which aims to launch 14 new models outside of Europe by 2030. To bring this pick-up to life, Renault is investing $350 million into its Santa Isabel factory in Córdoba, Argentina, where the truck will be manufactured.
As a model tailored specifically to the unique road conditions and market demands of South America, Renault has confirmed that the Niagara will not be sold in Europe.
The final production version of the Renault Niagara will make its full world debut on September 10, 2026.
